Current Projects

Noosa Landcare Projects
Cootharaba Community Erosion Awareness Project

This project will involve the community in catchment monitoring to address sediment & nutrient accumulation issues that may threaten the stability and long term health of the Noosa River system. Community information workshops will be held to raise awareness of the issues, past research & management priorities. Volunteers will be engaged to conduct sediment sampling and water quality monitoring in field situations and provided with the required resources, training and support. They will identify potential sediment sources and help provide a record of the changes that have occurred throughout its sedimentation history. A newsletter will be developed summarising workshop and project outcomes. The project is partly supported by SEQ Catchments, Noosa Landcare, and the Federal Government Caring for Our Country. In kind contributors and partner organisations are listed below:

Cootharaba Community Association, Department of Environment and Resource Management, Maroochy River Waterwatch, Noosa Integrated Catchment Association, Noosa River Waterwatch, Queensland National Parks & Wildlife (Elanda Point), SEQ Catchments, SEQ Healthy Waterways, Unity Water, University of the Sunshine Coast, University of Queensland.
