Plenty of planting to offset carbon from Biosphere Day

Noosa and District Landcare planted approximately 500 trees this week to offset the carbon produced during last year’s Noosa Biosphere Day.

The Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa has donated 100 of these plants as part of their support of the Noosa Biosphere and their aspirations to become a more environmentally friendly organisation.

Phil Moran wins Burnett Mary Regional Group NRM Mentor Award 2009

Vanessa Moscato and I recently nominated Phil Moran (pictured right) for BMRG’s NRM Mentor Award. Obviously, this award recognises the long term commitment (personally and professionally) that Phil has made to the rehabilitation and regeneration of our natural environment.

However, this award is also closely related to Phil’s tireless efforts (he may refute the tireless bit!) and ability to pass on his knowledge, empower people and instil life long passion for our natural environment, as well as steering numerous environmental groups and training programs throughout the region. Just wanted to say congratulations old man!
