Sunshine
Coast Council Landholder Environment Grant
The Landholder Environment Grant provides financial
assistance for private landholders to undertake on-ground projects that
protect and enhance the natural assets and biodiversity of the Sunshine
Coast, and promote ecologically sustainable management of the region’s
environment values.
Sunshine Coast landholders are invited to submit an expression of interest
for funding to undertake environmental works on private property.

Rainforest Recovery Consortium
Project
funding from Burnett Mary Regional
Groups’ RIS allocations, Rainforest
Recovery (WWF) and Australian Government
Envirofund. The project aims to improve
the management and protection of rainforest
ecosystems within the southeast Queensland
(SEQ) bioregion by implementing actions
within the SEQ Rainforest Recovery
Plan. The project will facilitate
the production of landholder information
kits on threatening processes and
current best management practices
for grazing, fire and pest management
by:

Implementing incentive program
focusing on improving conditions of
endangered rainforest ecosystems in
key areas. |
| 2. |
Implement pilot projects to determine
appropriate fire regimes for threatened
rainforest ecosystems in the key areas. |
| 3. |
Implement incentive program to assist
recovery of ecological processes for
: remnant mosaics, altitudinal corridors,
linear corridors, isolates & Regrowth
in the key areas. |
| 4. |
Implementation of education program. |
| 5. |
Monitoring, reporting and evaluation. |
This project is split between three
high capacity Landcare Groups (Noosa,
Gympie, Barung) with Mary River Catchment
Co-ordinating Committee acting as
the conduit and reporting organisation.
On ground funding will go direct to
Landholders within the project areas
who have been selected to meet the
Rainforest recovery guidelines and
will be used mainly for revegetation,
regeneration, weed control, maintenance
and fencing off of identified critical
areas.
